The Bear's Den has two paved parking areas that are accessed by city maintained paved roads.
The lower parking lot is at the front of the cabin and adequate for two vehicles. But, as is typical for the area, it's an uphill walk to the entry. The upper parking area (most convenient) is only a few steps onto the front porch.
We've recently noted several comments about guests having difficulty parking. We think the problem may be in how guests approach the parking areas and have included this tip in the cabin's "Guest Instructions Book".
Most guests visiting the Bear's Den for the first time will tend to approach the cabin in their car from below. Our "Owner's Tip"? Always approach the cabin from the rear!
If you'll follow the instructions below (also in the cabin book) you'll be parking LIKE THE OWNERS!!
Following the more direct [Blue] route will result in either your vehicle pointing in the wrong direction on the lower parking area or require a tight turn into the side (upper) parking lot.
We suggest following the [Red] loop access route – and approach the cabin from the rear. This results in an easier approach to the upper side lot. Also your vehicle will be correctly aligned at the lower parking area.
