There is a now a Zaio Zone Appraiser Advisory Committee, ZZAAC (pronounced “Zach”). This is a group of Zone Appraisers and ADOs who will represent all Zone Owners in collecting and communicating ideas and priorities to the management of Zaio.
Ken Verrett (aka Runt Rants), the chair of this new group, said the purpose is to “help us ensure the successful partnership of Zaio Inc and Zaio Zone Owners, the stakeholders in this exciting and grand endeavor!”
Thomas Inserra, MAI, SRA and Zaio’s CEO recognized that "Our appraisers have ideas and suggestions, but we have no really effective way for them to communicate those to Zaio in an organized manner. This can be an effective way to create two way communication with appraisers to constantly evaluate and provide feedback on our technology in a continuous improvement process."
Members of the new ZZAAC come from areas spread around the country.
Ken Verrett, a zone owner and ADO from Houston TX was invited to be the Chair. Ken and his 25 year old firm, Acorn Appraisal, with a staff of 9 appraisers. Mr. Verrett has a BA and MA in Economics and spent 15 years in banking, finishing as President of the Banking Division of Commonwealth Financial Group with bank branches throughout Texas.
Linda Sepso, SRA, owns an appraisal firm in Connecticut and is the ADO for the southern part of that state. Linda is a former member of the CT Real Estate Appraisal Commission, past president of the CT Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and an AQB Certified USPAP instructor. For a number of years she had been the Chief Appraiser for People’s Bank, the largest lender in the state. She now has a firm with 22 appraisers.
Kevin Allin, SRA is the managing partner of Anderson Appraisal Services in San Diego, California, a firm that was established in 1989 and has grown to be one of the largest residential appraisal firms in that part of the world. He owns 14 Zones and is the ADO for San Diego County.
Tony Higley is the ADO for that all important test market in Spokane, WA. He has a firm with 10 appraisers covering five counties in eastern Washington and western Idaho. Tony brings to the group a unequalled sense of history and experience with the Zaio model. Many of our Zone Appraisers have spoken with Tony as a part of their due diligence investigations prior to actually buying their zones. That combination makes Tony something of an “icon” in the Zaio world. His input and suggestions have been recognized as extremely valuable to Zaio for a long time.
John Hottle MAI, SRA, RM, is an appraiser with over thirty years experience and owns 10 Zones in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to being Zaio’s ADO for the area, many of our photographers and ADOs recognized him as Alicia Hottle’s dad. (Alicia is well known in the Zaio world as one of our most respected Lead Photography Trainers.)
Greg Colton, IFA is in Maryland, just north of Washington DC. Greg began in the appraisal business 15 years ago after 7 years in real estate sales. He now has developed an appraisal firm with 5 appraisers. He purchased 10 Zones and now is actively coordinating the photography effort in his area as the ADO in southern Maryland.
Mark Silverstein, SRA runs BayOne Appraisal in Tampa, Florida with Jay Donaldson and Angela Arnold. They provide appraisal services for a broad area of 15 counties across the middle of that state with a staff of 28. Mark is the ADO for the Tampa / St. Pete area. In his spare time, Mark has an active interest in Alaska, and just got back from a month long trip there. Through his very active company, involvement in the Appraisal Institute, and sparkling personality put Mark in a position of knowing a large number of appraisers in Florida and he has been instrumental in helping to recruit new Zone Owners.
The group will hold their first meeting at Zaio’s US Headquarters in Tempe AZ later this month on September 17 & 18.
Mr. Verrett expressed the sentiments of the group when he said “I’m extremely excited to be a part of the Zaio Concept, honored to be associated with this committee and determined to do my part to make all of this a success.”
