Glen Beck of CNN's Headline News takes on the appraisers role in the housing market meltdown:
"At the end of every major financial bubble, it marks the beginning of the finger pointing. The current current housing market collapse? . . .No different!"
"The appraisers have been the great equalizer the whole time. They're like our entire system of our governments of checks and balances (sarcastic) all conveniently wrapped up into one person. But during the bubble that system failed." Click here for the complete interview.
"Well, now the whole charade has been exposed. The government, proving once again just how far ahead of the curve they really are . . .is finally stepping in (sarcastic) with newwwww regulations. Just what we needed" "What does it say that we actually need government to make laws on common sense?"
Jonathan Miller, Pres., Miller Samuel Inc. and fellow blogger, was asked about the practice of emailing out a "blast" of appraisal requests to appraiser to "bid" on who could get the requested value.
Miller said: "Right, it would go to the lowest bidder and they would get the assignment." "The people that would sort of play ball were the people that would were given a lot of work and the people that didn't play ball have had to move on to other work."
