Patsy R. Brumfield, of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, writes in her 1/16/2009 article "Oxford company hit by class-action lawsuit":
OXFORD - A $5 million-plus class-action lawsuit against Oxford-based FNC Inc. has moved from Maryland to Mississippi, U.S. District Court records show.
The trademark infringement lawsuit stems from a May 2007 complaint by three residential real estate appraisers who used FNC's AppraisalPort service.
They accused FNC of "intentional misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, conversion, misappropriation, breach of bailment and breach of implied contract."
Specifically, they claim FNC built a national database of information about properties using appraisers' information, and now competes with them at their own expense.
