The Appraisal Institute on June 28 praised inclusion of appraisal provisions in the final version of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 4173). The House-Senate Conference Committee on Financial Reform completed work June 25 on the measure, which includes the most significant modernization of the appraisal regulatory structure since 1989.

" This bill represents a breakthrough for professional appraisers, who have consistently advocated for greater independence and competency," said Appraisal Institute President Leslie Sellers, MAI, SRA. "The Conference Committee has affirmed both ideals in the final conference report, and we believe that Congress should enact them into law."
