Back in February a guest from another cabin tried to head into town while the roads were covered with ice and had to use our retaining wall as their "emergency brake"! No one was hurt but the wall was compromised and had to be replaced.
The project started at the beginning of May and took three weeks to complete. The GOOD NEWS is that it is stronger, more beautiful, and safer than the original one. We had the builders incorporate a safety railing along the top of the wall nearest the steps. That's something that we had always meant to do . . .but never got around to doing.
While they were there, we had them install gutters over the porch/deck roof and re-do the footers on the porch supports.
